Neighborhood Vision 2025
Concurrent with the creation of the MidTown Vision Plan was the development of Imagine AsiaTown, a strategic vision plan created by residents and stakeholders of the broader AsiaTown neighborhood - which extends north of Payne Avenue to Superior, and includes Rockwell Street (Historic Chinatown) and areas along St. Clair Avenue. The MidTown Vision Plan can support the AsiaTown community to enhance the broader community identity, sense of belonging, and cultural confidence; promote co-existence and community prosperity and realize residents self-organizing, resource flowing, and sustainability.
Build awareness of and put to use the Vision-in-Action Compass, a flexible strategy and assessment tool customized to the AsiaTown Shared Vision.
Pilot the use of the Vision-in-Action Compass for a community-created / neighbor-led project in AsiaTown.
Consider expansion of tool for MidTown programming.

Gather Community Members Around Events and Festivals Important to Asian Culture
Continue planning events and programming that appeal to and AAPI residents and respond to the enique community assets, values, and variety within the Asian cultures represented in AsiaTown.
Beautify AsiaTown so That the Area Reflects Authentic Asian Cultures
All physical elements in public spaces are an opportunity to activate and beautify an area. In AsiaTown, everyday physical elements that make up the streetscape - crosswalk paint, landscape buffers, fencing, lighting, landscaping, and even pavement treatements - are a canvas on which to celebrate authentic Asian cultures in the area.
Make AsiaTown More Holistically Connected & Walkable
The AsiaTown Neighborhood overlaps MTC’s service area and both communities stand to gain from strengthening physical and socal connections within and between the areas. Physical pathways within and between these areas should improved to make stronger, safer connections that include connections to Historic Chinatown and Superior. MTC’s efforts to market MidTown businesses should include assets in the AsiaTown community at large, wherever possible.
